2011 CFO Hiring Trends Survey

The Intersect Group has released the results of the company’s CFO Hiring Survey. The survey was distributed to 541 Atlanta-based CFOs with 58 respondents.

The survey yielded positive results for the future of the finance and accounting function.

The survey found that:

– 47.4 percent of respondents plan to add staff in the finance and accounting function.

– More than 72 percent of jobs being staffed are being staffed by permanent hire employees.

– More than 50 percent of respondents indicated that they would hire between one and five employees, while 20 percent said they planned to hire more than 25.

Florida Bioenergy Project Closes $75M Loan

INEOS New Planet BioEnergy’s Indian River BioEnergy Center is now the first  large-scale advanced biorefinery facility in U.S. to close financing in latest round of USDA backed financing. The company announced last week that it has closed $75 million in private financing utilizing the USDA loan guarantee program.

The program will use  feedstock-flexible BioEnergy technology, which turns various waste materials into biofuels and renewable energy by using a combination of gasification and fermentation technology.

2011 Data Breach Report Reveals More Vulnerable Targets, But Eases Cloud Security Fears

Case Has  Potential to Curb Patent Infringement Case Settlement Strategies by “Patent Trolls”

The Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit (CAFC) recently upheld significant sanctions imposed by a district court against a patent holding company and its attorneys. The CAFC believed this was an exceptional case of behavior in extracting patent litigation settlements that warranted punitive action.  The case is Eon-Net LP, and Zimmerman & Levi, L.L.P. and Jean-Marc Zimmerman v.
